Feeling Better
After a good night of sleep, I am feeling much better! Thanks for the comment Allison. The sudafed (probably didn't spell that right) did the trick!

I can't breathe!
Well I am one week away from my second trimester and I have been careful not to take ANY medications and I have been eating really healthy. I am trying to do everthing thing right and then I develop a terrible sinus infection! Anyone who knows mw knows that I can't stand to have a stopped up nose. As a matter of fact there was a time when I could not even get to sleep without using over-the-counter nose spray and had to use it every night (this was before I ever got pregnant). I finally broke that bad habbit and I don't even keep it in the house. Well for the past two days I have been so stopped up.
I felt so bad today that I left school today during my planning period and ran down to Sheri's One Stop to see if they had any of the medications on my list of things I can take. I was looking for Sudafed or Tylenol Cold & Sinus and couldn't find either. I did find some kind of Tylenol Sinus product and I bought a little sample pack. I swallowed it down when I got back to school hoping that it would give me some relief. Well it didn't work! I suffered through another miserable day of this sinus infection. (I have been so ill the past few days b/c I feel so bad. Lucky for Alan he has been out of town and hasn't had to put up with me)
I went to the mall this evening and went into K-Mart trying to find a medication on my list and had no luck. They said they don't even carry anything with Sudafed and said to try Walgreens or CVS. CVS was my next stop and they had what I needed. It is kind of embarassing to buy Sudafed these days b/c it is behind the counter and you have to have your driver's liscense swiped and sign a thing stating that you could face prison time if you use the medication illegally or whatever it said. I didn't even read the whole thing I just signed it and paid. Any way I took it when I got home and I was hoping that this would work...but it didn't. I'm still stopped up!
I bought some Saline nose spray but that stuff is a joke. So then I remember what two of my janitors from school told me once. They said to squirt salty water up my nose and it would clear me right up. Well I was desperate tonight and I tried it. (Sorry Pam and Rick but that was a STUPID idea!!! It just burned up the inside of my nose and made my situation worse. Thanks a lot!) So next I tried taking a hot bath (Alan's idea) and putting a warm wet wash cloth on my nose. That was a stupid idea too. I didn't work either. If any one has any ideas that will work, please let me know. I am desperate!!!

Busy Day for Alan
Alabama played Western Kentucky tonight and it wasn't going to be on tv so I made a deal with Alan--I told him that if he trimmed all of the shrubs in our flower bed by the front door (it was really beginning to look like a jungle) and if he re-stained our front door and cleaned out the garage we could purchase the game on Pay-Per-View. He got up early this morning and began working on the flower bed and then he stained the door. He got started on the garage but ran out of time before the game started. We got the Pay-Per-View anyway. Alabama won 41-7. Roll Tide!!!
Our front door is a wooden front door with 4 beveled glass panels. It was already stained but not sealed yet because I wasn't sure of the color. Our house is red brick with dark shudders and I was really wanting the front door to have a rustic look and I thought a red tint would look good. Not like a cherry but an actual red tint. I went to Home Depot this morning and picked out a tint called "China Red." I was nervous about how it would turn out and the more Alan stained, the more nervous I got. It wasn't until Alan sanded it down a bit that I started liking the color. I meant to take a before and after picture but of course I forgot. Tomorrow I will post a picture of the interior side of the door (which is the old stain color) and the new exterior side of the door.

Insomnia
I thought you were supposed to sleep well during your first trimester. Well its 4:10 in the morning and I have been wide awake since 2:00 am! I guess it didn't help that I went to bed so early (8:00 pm) and it also didn't help that I drank a large glass of water before bed. I have either gotten up to use the bathroom or to blow my stopped up nose every night this week. I am so tired when I stumble back to bed but as soon as my head hits the pillow, I'm wide awake. Maybe God is trying to prepare me for many sleepless nights ahead when the baby comes. I thought that's what husbands were for. Anyway I guess I am going to try to go back to sleep.

Doctor Visit
I went back to see my OB this afternoon. (I have been going every two weeks instead of every four) I had another ultrasound and got about 10 more pictures none of which I can post because the quality is poor b/c she had to zoom way in. The heartbeat was 167 and they said that was really good. The lady that did my ultrasound said that she was thinking maybe a girl because of the heart rate but that's not always accurate. Anyway the best part of the whole visit was when we were looking at the baby and all of a sudden he/she jumped and then started waving his/her arms. It was so cute! Dr. McKee said everything looked great and all of my blood work came back perfectly normal. We are so excited. I go back to the doctor on October 9th and then four weeks after that I will find out what I am going to have if I choose to do so (Don't worry Reagan, I will probably want to know what I am having.)

The Birthday Party
The kids at the party admiring Jack's new Batman costume
Today we had Jack and Alan’s birthday party at the park. We were a little nervous that there may not be many to show up but we had a great turn out! Jack’s teacher came and brought her daughter, Anna Lee. Drake and Jonathon came from Jack’s class. Nicole Headrick brought her four boys and Alan’s mom, dad, sister and nieces Jordan and Samantha came. We were thrilled to have everyone there. The theme was Batman. I did not take many pictures because I was too busy visiting with everyone but I did manage to get a few. Here are some pictures from the day.
Bama Fan
The other day Hayes came over for a little while. While he was playing, he noticed some books on the shelf of my armoire. He walked right over and picked out Alan's favorite book by Gene Stallings called Another Season. He took the book over to the couch and opened it like he was about to read it. I grabbed my camera to take a picture. I knew Alan would be very proud of his book selection. I guess he is destined to be a BAMA fan!

Jack's New Shoes
For Jack’s birthday this year, I decided to get him a pair of new tennis shoes. When I told him that he would not be getting a toy from us this year but shoes instead, he was not happy at all. He said that shoes were not fun and he really, really, really wanted a toy instead. I am just so tired of seeing him in his dingy Crocs and besides the weather will be cooling off soon and he will need a descent pair of shoes. So on Monday Alan and I took him to the shoe store and decided that he would appreciate them more of he got to pick them out.
We got to the store and Jack told the sales clerk that he was looking to buy the fastest pair of shoes they had—a pair that would run faster than Drake’s shoes (Drake is a boy in his class that always runs faster than him in the gym). Jack spotted a pair that he liked immediately. He tried them on and the sales lady told him to test them out in the store. She let him run as fast as he could from one end of the store to the other. She was great and really played along. Anyway Jack LOVES his new shoes. When we got back to my parents house he had to show them off and then he wanted to race everyone to see if he could beat everyone. My dad was the only one up for the challenge. They went into the front yard and had a race. They ran two laps around the yard. Jack won of course. Then he got on the treadmill to try them out. It is so funny how he thinks the shoes give him special powers.
Today at school he showed them off to everyone. He teacher said the whole class spent the morning admiring his new shoes. And yes Jack was able to beat Drake in the gym with his new shoes. Drake claims that his shoes are still the fastest.
Labor Day
Chick Fil A had a special on Labor Day--Wear your team jersey and get free chicken strips. My mom, Alan and I took Jack and Hayes for lunch and let them eat and then play on the playground. Jack wore his new UAB jersey (a birthday gift from Aunt Maria and Uncle Caleb) and Hayes wore a Peyton Manning jersey. Here are some pictures from the day.

Tallulah's Breakfast
Our dog Tallulah loves eggs! She doesn't get them that much because we are not big egg eaters but last night while I was making dinner I noticed that we had a few eggs left in the carton that had expired. I decided that I would scramble her some eggs to mix in with her breakfast. I was going to try to get a picture of her eating them because it is so funny how she inhales them and she has bits of egg all over her snout when she is finished. By the time I had the camera ready she had eaten all the eggs and only dog food remained. Oh well!
Roll Tide!
The first Alabama game always falls on the weekend of Alan's birthday and we always go to the first game. This year the game was in Atlanta and we were just in Atlanta a few weekends ago and I just did not really feel like going back. Anyway we stayed at home to watch the game. I made all of his favorite foods for the game so he wasn't too upset that we didn't go. It was a great game. ROLL TIDE!

Baby Harbison
I went to the doctor on Tuesday for another checkup. (I have been going every 2 weeks instead of every month because I have had a previous miscarriage) I was a little nervous as always but everything turned out great. We got our first picture of the baby. The pictures I am posting are not good quality pictures because I could not get my scanner to scan them properly so I just took a picture of the pictures.
