Not again!

How many times can one girl get strep in a 2 month period? Apparently, at least 3 times! Yep, I have it again for the 3rd time. I was told tonight that I might be a good candidate for a tonsillectomy....not what I wanted to hear. Hopefully I will make a quick recovery. I'm already feeling better thanks to the humongous shot I got.

Our session with Grethel Van Epps

We had planned Jane Baird's one year pictures for today. I scheduled this appointment with Grethel Van Epps months in advance and had no clue what the weather was going to be like. I've been following the forecast all week and knew that today was going to be a rainy day. I emailed Grethel last night and she suggested that I call her at 7:30 this morning to see how the weather was looking. That meant that we all needed to be almost completely ready to walk out the door just in case. I called Grethel at 7:30 this morning and she said it was pouring in B'ham. We ended up rescheduling for next weekend. I threw out the icing that I was going to use to ice the 3rd and final cake. We had started cleaning the house (it's looking like a tornado came through) when my phone rang. It was about 11:30 and Grethel said the sun had come out and the temp was warming up. We said we would try at 3:00 to meet up. Be headed to Aldridge Gardens in Hoover and had a wonderful time. Jane Baird was so cooperative (most of the time) and I think Grethel got some great pics. She said they would be ready no later than Friday. I can't wait to see them!!!

The Party!

Jane Baird's birthday party was yesterday and we were blessed with beautiful weather! We had her party at my school's playground, where there is a large playground, a pavilion, and a large grassy yard for the kids to run wild. It was the perfect spot! Coach "B," our P.E. teacher left balls, hula hoops, scoops, etc. for the kids to play with. We also brought Jack's Jeep and Haye's 4 wheeler to play with. It was a beautiful day, but VERY windy. I have bags of streamers and decorations that we didn't even get to use b/c of the wind... I guess I can save them for next year... It was so windy that the balloons on the left blew away before the day was over! You can't see this from the picture, but Morgan decorated each child's basket with their names. She is very artistic and did a great job. Thanks, Morgan! Jane Baird going for a ride in the jeep Hayes on his 4 wheeler Jane Baird loves playing in rocks. She kept trying to eat them. She won't eat birthday cake, but she'll eat rocks and paper... We had an egg hunt for the kids. Logan and Jane Baird weren't too interested. They just wanted to sit and play with the eggs. I think Jack ended up hunting the rest of their eggs. All of the kids had bunny ears in their baskets...I think Logan was the only one to wear them. Isn't he cute! Look at their wind-blown hair! The cake and cupcakes made by Mommy! Because Jane Baird doesn't like cake, I made her an ice cream cake. We also had ice cream cups for the kids, but forgot to pass them out...we now have a mess in our cooler!!! Time for presents! After the party was over, Grace, Chris, and my mom stayed to help clean up (thank you!). We let the kids go into the gym while we cleaned and we put Jack in charge of babysitting (scary!) Just kidding...Jack is a fantastic babysitter! Anyway when everything was clean, we all played ball in the gym for another hour. We got home around 7:30 and were ready to crash. Jane Baird got a much needed bath and then off to bed she went! She normally has 3-4 naps each day, but yesterday she only got one morning nap and 2 10-minute afternoon naps. I can't believe she made it through the day!!! We had a fantastic day celebrating Jane Baird's first birthday! Thanks to everyone for coming, the wonderful gifts, and the clean up crew! You all made this day special for my sweet birthday girl!!!

1st Birthday cake!

We went with an Easter/springy theme this year. I made the cake myself...it's not quite what I had envisioned, but it turned out ok. Those cake decorating shows make it look so easy, but I've learned it's not! Jane Baird doesn't really like sweets yet. She didn't even try to put any in her mouth. She really didn't want to play in it either. I had to make her put her hands in it and then smeared some icing on her. As soon as she got dirty, she wanted her mommy and then I ended up with icing all over me! hmmmm She took the little baby chick off and tossed it to the side I was trying to get her to play in the icing so I smeared it on her, but she wasn't interested in playing that game. She reached out for me and got icing all over me The damage was minimal
