I LOVE MOMMY

While Alan and Jane Baird were sleeping I was taking pictures of them. I saw one of JB's Pacifiers and I thought it would be funny to stick it in Alan's mouth b/c he is such a sound sleeper. He spit it out almost immediately but not before I snapped this picture =) Alan's response after seeing this picture: He said he felt violated. He is going to try to get me back. I'll have to hide the camera tonight while I'm sleeping!

Sleepin' in for a change

It has been a really long time since we all slept in. This morning Jane Baird woke up at 6:15 for a bottle. (She hardley ever wakes up during the night. She usually wakes up around 5:30 or 6:00. She is such a great baby and great sleeper and has been since she was about 4 weeks. I just haven't bragged on her yet b/c I didn't want to jinx it=) Anyway Alan got up at 6:15 with her to feed her so I could sleep. After feeding JB, Alan put her in bed with us and we all slept in. I woke about 9:30 and Alan and JB were sound asleep. I reached for camera to take a few pictures. JB woke up while I was taking pictures (she is very used to being photographed and she knows the sounds of my camera very well) and then she went back to sleep.

Jane Baird on a Skateboard

Last night we went to eat at my parent's house. They were grillin' in the rain and we had a big grilled feast. After dinner Jack got out is skateboard and we let Jane Baird have a turn. I think she liked it =) Before we went over to my parent's house last night we lost our satellite signal b/c of all of the rain and we had no tv to watch. Alan and I decided to play cards. We were playing Rummy and decided to make it interesting so we had a little wager. Whoever made it to 1000 first was the winner and the loser couldn't get on the computer for the rest of the night. Well, I didn't update my blog last night so can you guess who the loser was???

Ball Game Drive-in Style

Jack had a ballgame today. It was sprinkling when we left home and we were hoping that the rain would pass. When we arrived at teh field it was still raining so we pulled our car up and watched both games from the car. Thankfully the field was right on the street and we had a pretty good view. The picture quality is not that great b/c I had to zoom way in...oh well.

Grethel Van Epps (my favorite photographer in the whole wide world:) is part of the American Child Photographer's Charity Guild, an organization that allows her the opportunity to give free services to children with illnesses. I contacted Grethel and told her Jane Baird's story and we scheduled a session. Grethel photographed Jane Baird a few weeks ago. (If you keep up with JB on the blog you probably have seen the amazingly beautiful pictures GVE took of her.) Anyway she asked me if she could write something up about JB on her blog and of course I said yes! To visit GVE's blog go http://www.gvephotography.com and click on blog. I am so thankful to have found such a great photographer. Not only does she have an incredible talent, she has such a kind heart!
This was taken right before we left for Children's Hospital for the MRI. I tried my best to keep her awake. I put her in her Bumbo b/c I thought sitting up would help...as you can see, my attempt was unsuccessful!
Finally after 5 hours without a bottle I got to feed her. She drank it so fast that she threw up right before her MRI. Poor baby :(

MRI and more bodily fluid

We went to Children's hospital for Jane Baird's MRI at 6:00 pm. She wouldn't take her bottle at 2:00 so I thought we were going to in for it big time. Well she was great all afternoon and the whole way over to B'ham. We had to sit in the waiting room for nearly an hour (b/c we got there early) and she was just as good as she could be. At 10 minutes til 6 she started crying her hungry cry and I felt bad b/c we couldn't feed her until right before the MRI. At 6:02 they called us back. I fed her and swaddled her. I tried to burp her and she just wouldn't burp. She went right to sleep instead. We wanted to wait a few minutes to make sure she was fast asleep. She started wiggling around and I knew it just wouldn't work (her being still enough for the MRI). Well by the time the nurse came to get us, JB was wide awake but not crying. We decided to give it a try anyway. We put her down and wrapped her up really good and she got her own ear muff looking things and got all strapped in. He was about to start the machine when all of a sudden a fountain of milk came shooting up from her mouth. It soaked all three blankets on her, the one she was wrapped in, her hair, her face--everything. I was shocked because she never spits up. It has probably been 2 weeks since she spit up the last time and it was probably not more than a table spoon of spit up. Tonight it had to have been all 4 oz that she ate. I have never seen so much milk come out of a baby before. (This was like the day of bodily fluids...teetee and poop this morning and spit up tonight...Geez) We got her alll cleaned up and proceded with the MRI. She was awake the entire time but still as a rock! I was so proud of her. I told her if she did good, I would buy her a new dress. I guess I owe her a new dress now:)
Today we take Jane Baird for her MRI. As I mentioned before, we are going to try a "feed and swaddle" so that JB doesn't have to be sedated for the MRI. Well I am not supposed to feed her after 2:00pm b/c she is supposed to be starving by 6:00 pm (that's when her MRI will be done) so she will take her bottle and go right to sleep. I had her feedings all planned out for the day and of course she doesn't follow the plan. She was starving at 1:00 so I only gave her half of the bottle and planned on giving her the other half at 2:00. She fell asleep and I had to wake her a few minutes before 2:00 to feed her. I couldn't get her to wake up. So I put her in the bath tub to wake her. It woke her up but she still wouldn't take the bottle. She just kept spitting it out. I finally gave up after like 26 attempts. She is going to bed ILL by 6:00!

Funny Story :)

This is a funny story about what happened this morning. (Jordan and Samantha will like this one) This morning Jane Baird was swinging in her swing while I was getting some house work done (or at least trying to) and I heard her pooping. (If you saw the video that I posted previously, you know that I don't need to be in the same room with her to know that she is pooping--I can hear her. If you haven't seen the video, you need to scroll down and watch it:) Well I waited until she had finished and was going to change her. I went and got her and put her down on the bed. I opened her diaper and there was no poop but it was FULL of tee tee. I reached over to get a dry diaper when she let out a great big push and tee tee started to FLOW! It got all over my shirt, the bed, Jane Baird's blanket, her clothes and herself not to mention the clean diaper. (Everyone says that boys are bad to pee on you but little boys have nothing on JB!) Well then the poop started to FLOW! I held her feet so she wouldn't make a mess. When she finished up I reached for another diaper (I keep them all over the house and especially by my bed so I don't have to get up in the middle of the night). Well...there weren't anymore. I had to get up fast and run into the living room for another diaper. When I got back (like 4 1/2 seconds later) she had wallowed all in it. YUCK!!! I then had to clean her up and nearly ran out of wipes. Thankfully I had just enough wipes to finish the job. Oh and I almost forgot to mention the huge smile she had on her face when I finished cleaning up. She is a mess!

1st field trip and new clothes!

Today the first graders at my school had their end-of-the-year party at the park. Jane Baird and I went to socialize and say goodbye to everyone. Dusti and Naomi (both teachers and good friends of ours) passed Jane Baird back and forth and argued over who got to feed her (they both miss having babies around). We had fun visiting!
Jane Baird and I went shopping this afternoon and she got two new outfits (as if she needed any more clothes :)

Sorry that my pictures and captions are all over the place. I don't know how to fix it. I'm very frusterated with Blogger!!!

Cookies for Mrs. Palmer

I have been on maternity leave since March 25th and totally forgot that Teacher Appreciation day was in May. My nephew Jack is in kindergarten at the school where I teach and he has the most incredible teacher ever. Her name is Mrs. Palmer. Jack adores her! She has made this a great year for Jack and all of the other students in her class. I remember at the beginning of the school year while riding to school one morning Jack said, "Meme, I hate Fridays!" I said, "I love Fridays!!! Why do you hate them?" Jack replied, "Because that means after Friday I have to wait two more days to see Mrs. Palmer again." I thought that was so sweet. Anyway I feel terrible that I did not remember teacher appreciation day this year. I asked Jack to think of something special to do for Mrs. Palmer and he said he wanted to make her a card (he loves to draw) and bake her some cookies. Jack came over this afternoon after school and we made Cowboy cookies and he made her a card. Jack got to pour all the ingredients into the bowl and turn the mixer on and off. He loved putting in on full speed and watching flour fly everywhere. When I told jack to add the flour to the bowl he said, "Oh good! Mrs. Palmer loves flowers." I thought that was cute. The cookies were very tasty. I hope Mrs. Palmer likes them :)
