We had a great afternoon today. It started off with a trip to Chik-Fil-A with Jane Baird, Jack, and Ellie. Ellie is one of my students. She is super sweet and I was treating her to an afternoon of fun for being the only student in the class to make a perfect score on the End-of-the-Year reading test, which is a big deal in first grade. Anyway we ate and played in the play area and the kids had a great time--especially Jane Baird. Normally I do not like taking Jane Baird to Chick Fil A because she thinks that she can go up the slide backwards and other kids come rushing down without paying attention to her. She will climb up the slide backwards the entire time we are in the play area and get mad if I take her off the slide. I try to get her to play in "Toddler Town" but she won't have it. She wants to do what the big kids do. Thankfully it was just us, and Jack and Ellie were looking out for her. We here there for about 2 hours and it was time to take Ellie home. Ellie has tons of animals so she invited us to come and see her pets. I was really impressed with all of the animals. It was like being at the zoo. Jane Baird got to pet a mule and she loved it. The mule, "Sally" enjoyed Jane Baird...until she kicked Sally in the nose! Thankfully Sally was forgiving and gave Jane Baird a second chance. Then we saw a huge pot belly pig, roosters, an enormous turkey and some cute baby pigs. And dogs too of course. Next, Ellie's mom, Jenny took all of us for a ride on the Rhino. Jane Baird loved that part too. It was so much fun. Too bad I didn't have my camera :( Jane Baird was exhausted when we got home. I changed her in to her pajamas ("jom-joms") and then put her hair up in her very first ponytail :) Jane Baird's 1st pony tail. It won't be long before we have enough hair for pigtails! My other mother's day present. A friend of a friend started making these adorable nest eggs. When I saw them on FB and her blog, I knew I had to have one. I told Alan that I wanted one for mother's day and he made it happen. I knew I was getting a nest egg, but I wanted everything else to be a surprise b/c I love surprises. I am so happy with how it turned out!!! I was so eggcited to get my nest egg! It was a total surprise! LOVE IT!
