Weather Day!

We were out of school today for our final weather day of the year. Jane Baird and I spent the day in doctors offices. I hated to spend our day off that way, but I'm out of days and Jane Baird has a surgery coming up so I have to schedule appointments on our days off. My day began at 5:00 this morning. I had to be up early to get ready for my 7:00 am appointment. I was in search of just a general doctor b/c I didn't have one and did not like some that I've been to before. My plan was to try out new doctors until I found one that I liked. Thankfully, the first one I went to this morning was a winner. Jane Baird went along with me and was so good! She got lots and lots of attention and she loved it :) After my appointment, we went home so that Jane Baird could get a nap in before her doctor's appointment. After her nap, we headed to Birmingham for her 12 month appointment (yep, we are a little late but today was the only day I was available). I have no pictures to share from this appointment...I had my hands full chasing Miss Independent around the office! Jane Baird's appointment went very well. She is doing everything she is supposed to and more. She weighed in at a whopping 22lbs 14 oz! Her length was 30.5 ( I think). She is in the 75-95th percentile for both height and weight and 50th percentile for head circumference. The doctor was very pleased with her size and she is growing right along with the curve! Of course we discussed feeding issues also. Jane Baird will be having her surgery next week to dilate her esophagus and we are hoping she will be able to tolerate chunkier foods. Right now, she is still eating pureed foods like Gerber step 2 foods and table food that I made and puree in the food processor or blender. She just cannot get textured or chunky foods down without choking. Also, Dr. French has referred her to an OT at Children's Hospital to help her learn to chew and swallow new foods. We won't see the OT until after the surgery and Dr. French suspects that after the surgery we will probably be able to cancel our appointment with the OT. We will just have to see how that goes... More about Jane Baird... Jane Baird is extremely active these days! She is also very independent and wants to do everything by herself. She loves to walk and is now a very good walker. She doesn't want to crawl around much anymore. She is a little less laid back than she used to be. She is becoming more and more like me everyday (poor Daddy)! If she doesn't get her way, she is likely to yell out at us. She loves to be the center of attention. Favorite songs: Imma Be (Black Eyed Peas) and I'm Yours (Jason Mraz) She always dances to Imma Be in the car and she always claps when I sing "I'm Yours" to her. Favorite show: Wonder Pets Favorite color: Lavender (I just guessing ;) Favorite word(s): bye bye Favorite animal: dog (she loves our dog, Tallulah aka "Lulu") Favorite food: Yogurt Favorite Game: Peek-A-Boo Favorite toy: her pink and purple car Favorite outfit: her birthday suit...my girl loves to be naked! (probably b/c we don't have a hair bow to match) Favorite hobby: playing in the dirt or in the rocks What she loves most: her Mommy and Daddy She hates: diaper changes and hair bows Special talents: Jane Baird is a great dancer and has excellent rhythm Interesting fact: She got her bottom molars in at 10 months and she loves to talk to men with facial hair...I know that's strange, but whenever we go somewhere she always speaks to the hairy men.
