Happy Birthday Pops!

Today has been wonderful. I got the best night of sleep I have had in over a year. I guess knowing that Jane Baird is going to be ok and knowing that all of her surgeries are behind us lifted a huge weight off my shoulders...I knew I was stressed, but didn't realize how stressed. Anyway we all slept until 9:00 am. Alan got up with Jane Baird so I could have a few extra minutes of sleep. I was up within 5 minutes of Jane Baird waking up...I missed her and couldn't wait to see her.
Alan fed her and then we all played in the floor for awhile. We were told to take Jane Baird's bandage off today so we did took it off when we changed her diaper. I was nervous about taking it off and scared of what I would see. Everything looked great...it didn't freak me out like I thought it would. Because the incision is on her lower back and goes down into her diaper, she has to wear these plastic things that we call "mud flaps." This helps protect her wound incase she has a really messy diaper.
We went down to our storage unit to clean out some of the junk. My dad met us down there to help Alan load his truck and we ended up loading Alan's truck and my dad's truck. While we were heading back to my parent's house, the funniest thing happened. Alan, my dad, and myself were all in seperate cars. My dad had two ugly puffy blue recliners in the back of his truck. The recliners were given to me to use in my classroom at the first school I taught at and when the school closed, we threw them in the unit thinking I may use them again oneday but they were just too ugly and bulky. Anyway my dad wanted to take the recliners apart so he could use the springs for one of his projects. So he was driving down the highway and a man pulls up beside him and tells him that one of his recliners fell out on the highway in front of the mall. He was already way on down the road so he went on home to unload and then he and Alan drove back down the highway to pick it up. When they went back, someone had picked the recliner up and moved it to the side. I got so tickled when I heard what had happened. My mom and I couldn't stop laughing about that. My dad said, "Well I saw the car behind me swerving, but I didn't know why. I just assumed he was showing out or something." As it turns out, he was dodging and big puffy blue recliner! I'm still laughing!!!
Today was my dad's birthday so we spent most of the day visiting and we ate dinner with them. Jane Baird had a blast. She played and rolled around and smiled and laughed all day long. We are so happy to have her back to her old self again. Her back is still tender, but she is very mobile now. She hit a huge milestone tonight...she started to crawl!!! Well, she is combat crawling, but that counts. I can't believe she had surgery on her spinal cord on Friday and by Sunday she is combat crawling. What a tough little girl! All of this happened towards the end of the night right before we left my parents and we didn't let her go to far b/c Jack and Hayes had all of their little toys out. I can't wait to see how she does crawling tomorrow. I bet I will have my hands full!!!
I took a few pictures today but I left my camera at my mom and dad's so I will upload them tomorrow when I get my camera back.
