I spoke too soon!

Well, I spoke to soon about the iv in her head. We walked in this morning and from a distance I saw a strange looking bow on the side of her head. As I got closer I was like "What????". It was an iv in my sweet little baby's head. As it turns out, she kicked and kicked until she ruined her iv like an hour after we left last night. The nurse said that sometimes the babies have the juiciest veins on their head. It took a while, but we got used to it and it doesn't bother her at all. Hopefully JB will be on full volume feeds tomorrow and we will be able to lose that iv for good! We had a new experience today! We fed Jane Baird her rice cereal with a spoon. It was so funny. Emily, one of the nurse practitioners said that she probably wouldn't do all that well b/c babies at her age still have the tongue thrust reflex. I quickly responded by telling her that Jane Baird is very advanced for her age and she would do great. Then the nurses realized that we didn't have any baby spoons in the NICU. They started calling around and couldn't find any. I ran down to the gift shop with out any luck and then headed to the pharmacy with no luck. Then it was down to the cafeteria, my last resort. I knew they had spoons. I quickly walked back up to the 6th floor and we began feeding her. It was too cute. She did have the tongue thrust reflex, but she did pretty good for her first time. The funniest part was that she missed getting to suck on something while feeding so she would take a bite and then suck her thumb. It was too cute (and messy!) After a little fun, I gave the rest to her in her bottle. It would have taken 3 hours by spoon!
