Oh how I love a great bargain!

My sister is a big time yard saler and she wakes up early on Saturdays to go to yard sales and then she calls me and tell me that I need to jump in the car and get over to one right away because they have smocked dresses in Jane Baird's size. So for the past 3 weekends I have gotten up early and gone to a few. I'm so glad I got up early this morning because I found the biggest bargain EVER! If you have a little girl and you love beautiful dresses, then you probably know about heirloom dresses made by Peices By Tam. They are quite expensive (about $200) and I can't afford to pay that much so I had given up hopes of Jane Baird ever wearing one...until this morning. I spotted one on a rack near this lady who was buying up all of the dresses and then I grabbed it before she did. It was a 2T (perfect for this spring). I asked how much it was and the lady said all clothes are $1. I grabbed my wallet and paid for it so fast and then told Alan to take it to the car ASAP...I was afraid she would change her mind about the price... LOL!!! Anyway when I got home, I looked online and a dress very similar to this one is $286...I'm so proud of my find!!! I also got a WillBeth smocked dress for $1. Jane Baird had the exact dress when she was 3 months and I loved it. So glad I found it again in size 18 months! So excited about the dress...yeah right!!! She could care less!

Spring Valley Beach

Well, this is my last weekend before school starts and we wanted to do something fun. I considered the beach and closed my eyes to daydream about how relaxing that would be...visions of Jane Baird running into the ocean and me chasing after her kept interrupting my daydream. Although she loves the water and would probably enjoy throwing sand at Alan and me when she didn't get her way, we decided against the beach...sort of. Instead of heading down to the coast, we headed for the country. We planned a trip to Spring Valley Beach!!! We had never been and just recently heard about it. We rented a pavillion for the day and enjoyed a fun day in the water. We packed a picnic lunch and filled our cooler full of drinks. We had sooooo much fun. In fact, at 16 months, SVB is probably way better than the beach. Jane Baird was so happy all day and loved every second of being in the water! As soon as her eyes met the water, she was trying to drag Daddy to the kiddy pool Taking a lunch break. Ham sandwiches, yogurt, fruit We brought her Pack N Play along so that she could get a nap when she got tired. She napped for an hour and was ready to get back in the water Daddy took her down the slide and she loved it. Daddy ended up taking her down the slide no less than 10 times She also liked going down the little fish slide. She's telling Daddy where she wants to go next She was so tired!

I'm so far behind with my blogging! This has been our absolute busiest week of the entire summer and its also our last week :( I start back to work on Tuesday and Jane Baird starts to preschool on Wednesday. I'm always sad when summer comes to an end, but the end of summer this year is bitter sweet. Bitter because I don't want it to end and sweet because I was able to spend the entire summer with Jane Baird and no hospital stays for us!!! I'm trying to keep a positive attitude about going back to work. I do love my job and feel very fortunate and thankful to have a job to go to. On Monday, Jane Baird and I made owls for my bulletin board at school. Each little owl is made out of fabric and it took just about all day to finish them. After Alan got off work, we went to my classroom to get my bulletin board finished and do do a few other things. There was no air and it was so hot! We didn't stay long. Jane Baird's hair was wet from sweat when we left. When we got home, she got ice cream to help cool her off! We went to see Dr. Farr on Tuesday for a well baby check up. Jane Baird is 24 lbs and in the 75% for weight, 50% for height and 50% for head circumference. She got two shots. After the appointment, we went shopping. No pics from this day On Wednesday Jane Baird's OT came in the morning and Aunt Angie and cousins Jordan and Samantha came over for a visit. They invited us to VBS at their church and they had a class for Jane Baird's age so we went and Jack and Hayes also came along. On Thursday we spent the first half of the day at Children's Hospital. Jane Baird had a renal untrasound and a urodynamics study. It was horrible and she screamed the entire time during both tests. The renal ultrasound was simple and painless, but she didn't care for it one bit. For the urodynamics study, the doc inserts a catheter into her bottom and her tee tee. Then they fill her bladder and watch it empty to make sure her bladder functions properly (this is routine before and after surgery for tethered spinal cords). She hated every second of this test and her daddy and I did too. She screamed for an hour. She was screaming so hard that her bladder would not empty and it just made the test take even longer. Dr. K even tried the "warm water" trick to get her to tee tee, but she was just too distraught. After leaving CHS, we went shopping and went to Build A Bear. She got ice cream before leaving the Galleria and then we headed home. She fell asleep in the car and then slept until 8:30 tonight. I guess all that screaming wears a girl out!!! Friday is our family fun day at Spring Valley Beach!!! Pics in random order... Bubbles at VBS Sleepy girl at VBS This pic was taken after the ultra sound and before the urodynamics study. She cried so hard she broke out into hives Hugging her new bear Trying to decide which heart to choose for her bear. She couldn't make up her mind so her bear has two hearts Stepping on the pedal to fill her bear with stuffing My bulletin board that JB helped me with...it still needs a border and student names eating ice cream to cool off after working in my extremely hot classroom 1st night of VBS She was almost too big for her seat Playing with her Bible He's Got the Whole World in His Hands
