Lunch with great friends, a visit to preschool and my newest creation

Today was a fun day! Jane Baird and I had lunch with my Dusti, Naomi, and their kids at my favorite Mexican restaurant. Then we went to visit Jane Baird's teachers at her preschool. School will be starting back soon and I want to make the "back to school" transition as smooth as possible for Jane Baird...and we missed Mrs. Jenny and Mrs. Andrea! Jane Baird walked right in, looked around and then headed straight to the old wooden high chair that she used to always play with....just like the old days! (It has this metal thing hanging down and she always liked the noise it made when she played with it.) Both Mrs. Andrea and Mrs. Jenny both commented on how much she's changed since the end of May. After Jane Baird went to bed, I proceeded to finish an outfit I had begun about 3 days ago. One of the things that inspired me to begin sewing was some cute outfits made by La Jenns. For those of you who are familiar with La Jenns, you know that they retail for around $80 and they are hard to find on EBAY. Anyway Dave Ramsey wouldn't approve of me spending $80 on an outfit and as a matter of fact, he'd probably kick me out of his club for doing such a thing!!! Anyway, back to my story... So the problem was finding a good pattern that was similar to the La Jenns. Its a rather simple romper/overalls type pattern which isn't that hard to find, but its hard to find the right style/fit of the legs and the way it hangs...I didn't want it to be nerdy looking, but rather, cutsie! I had to make my own pattern by piecing several together and then tweeking it a little. I have to say that I did alright, but I'm not totally happy with it. Before I added the ruffles at the bottom of the legs I tried it on JB, and it was adorable! I have a feeling it will be too long and I'll need to take it up a bit, but one good thing about ruffles...they kind of go out and don't really add so much to the length...so I'm hoping no more alterations!!! I've taken this outfit apart soooooo many times. So here it is...
