Alan had to work today so Jane Baird spent the whole day together just playing and hanging out. She is changing so much these days. Her hand-eye coordination has improved greatly over the past week. She just reaches out for whatever she wants and picks it up usually on the first try. I always sit her in her bumbo chair when I'm cooking in the kitchen. She loves to watch and I always let her chew on my rubber measuring cups. She likes to reach out and touch my spice rack and her rice cereal box. The other day she reached out for my butcher block knives! There was no way possible that she could have pulled one out and I was watching her the whole time. She watches me pull a knife out and chop so she was just trying to copy Mommy. (I have since moved the knives away from her seat so no need to call DHR...LOL!) Jane Baird LOVES for me to sing to her. Her favorite song is "You Are My Sunshine." If I ever want her to smile, I just start singing that to her. I always make up songs and rhymes and today I made up a little jingle about clapping hands, kicking feet, and waving goodbye. I can't remember exactly how it went b/c I just made it up on the spot but anyway she like it and we practiced all day today. This evening during halftime of the Alabama game I told JB to wave goodbye to daddy and I waved and she copied me! She did it over and over and Alan and I were cheering her on. We'll see if she can still wave goodbye tomorrow. She's such a smart girl! Alan went to the store tonight to buy JB some more baby food. So far all she likes is peas and green beans. The foods that she does not like (in fact, despises) are carrots, applesauce, and bananas. She does not like anything sweet tasting including her medicine. He bought sweet potatoes, squash, pears, and peaches all of them are sweet but I'm going to try to get her to acquire a taste for sweet (she definitely did not inherit my taste buds!) We will see how this goes tomorrow and I will most likely have some pics of her making funny faces! While I was typing this post, Jane Baird woke up (she was hungry) and Alan and I walked into her room to check on her and she looked at us with the biggest smile and did her "good-bye" wave. Or it could have been her "hello" wave but we haven't worked on hello yet. She is the sweetest. I was going to post some pics but now that she is awake, I'm off to spend a little QT with Jane Baird and Alan. I will post some pics tomorrow!

I cannot believe she is waving!!! See, she is catching up just fine. No lagging behind for JB! I try to make Molly wave but she just kind of holds her fist and I shake it : ) I love JB's facial expressions too, hilarious over the food. And I could see in some of those pics how she looks like you. since I saw pics of Alan I thought she looked just like him but I could tell in some of those how she looks like you too. Hope y'all have a good week. Oh, how much did she weigh????
